There are 3 lights on the adapter cable, Midi, USB and one. I have my USB plugged into my iMac and the MIDI plugs in my piano. I have a USB to MIDI adapter cable, consisting of both an In and Out 5-pin Midi cable running through to a USB plug. Clicking the left triangle lowers the range by an octave, and clicking the right triangle raises the range by an octave. It is grey when unplugged, and when i plug the USB in it turns solid.
